7 - Tears Are a Language
(back)
Tears
Are a Language
|
|
There
is not a person among us who
does
not speak this language. We may be
from
different parts of the world and share
different
cultures, yet we all speak this
same
language. The language that
I
am referring to is the
"LANGUAGE
OF TEARS."
Tears
oftentimes say more than words
can
ever express. In fact, there are times
when
we find that we cannot speak,
but,
Oh Thank God, our tears do flow.
We
have encountered times when we
were
so low in our spirits and could not
express
the pain or heartache that we felt
deep
down in our soul, but with uplifted
faces
toward heaven, we simply let our
tears
speak rivers of words that only God
our
Heavenly Father could interpret, for
He
is the maker of these
"sparkling
gems."

Tears!
Tears! Tears!
What
becomes of our tears?
Are
they simply poured out in vain?
To
what purpose are all our tears?
All
the tears that drops from our eyes and
rolls
down our cheeks are precious seeds
that
God catches and bottles up for a
forthcoming
harvest.
Just
as rain prepares the ground to receive
the
seed, our tears prepare the ground,
and,
at the same time, are the seeds
planted
for a mighty harvest.
Oh
Christian!
God
sees and counts all those tears!
They
are precious in His sight!
They
speak words unutterable to us
but
understandable to God!
They
are precious seeds for our harvest.
If
we do not grow weary, we shall reap
in due season if we faint not.
|
 |
|

|
We SHALL reap!
Our
answers to prayer WILL come!
They
that sow in tears SHALL reap in joy!
We
SHALL reap in joy!
God
will make us to hear
joy
and gladness once again.
(Psalm
51:8)
Look
at the woman who travails in childbirth.
She
has sorrow for a time; but when the
baby
is born, she remembers no more
the
anguish for the joy
(John
16:21).
God
promises to turn our mourning into joy
(Jeremiah
31:13).
It's
not always going to be this way.
Things
are going to change.

Daily
Prayer
Father,
You have called us all to
travel
on the same road and in the same
direction,
so we will stay together, both
outwardly
and inwardly. We have one
Master,
one faith, one baptism, one God
and
Father of all--Who rules over all, works
through
all and is present in all. Everything
we
are and think and do is permeated
with
oneness.
Father,
we imitate You. We walk in
love.
We walk as children of the light.
We
look carefully how we walk! We live
purposefully
and worthily and accurately,
making
the very most of the time,
because
the days are evil.
We
speak to one another in psalms
and
hymns and spiritual songs, offering
praise
with voice and making melody
with
all our hearts to You, Lord, at all
times
and for everything giving thanks
in
the name of our Lord Jesus Christ
to
You, Father. By love we serve one
another.
And with love comes charity.
For
without charity there is no love,
and
without love our gifts are worthless.
Father,
we thank You that charity is
from
You and in the body of Christ,
in
the name of Jesus, AMEN.

14 - Lessons from Noah . . .
(back)
Lessons
from Noah

There is a lot that can be learned from the story of Noah's Ark.
For example:
·
Plan ahead. It
wasn't raining when Noah built the ark.
·
Stay fit. When
you're 600 years old, someone might ask you to do something REALLY big.
(amen!)
·
Don't listen to
critics -- do what has to be done.
·
Build on high
ground.
·
For safety's
sake, travel in pairs.
·
Two heads are
better than one.
·
Speed isn't
always an advantage. The cheetahs were on board, but so were the snails.
·
When you are
stressed, float a while.
·
Don't forget
that we're all in the same boat.
·
Remember that
the ark was built by amateurs and the Titanic was built by professionals.
·
Remember that
the woodpeckers INSIDE are often a bigger threat than the storm outside.
·
Don't miss the
boat.
·
No matter how
bleak it looks, when you are with God, there's always a rainbow on the
other side!

28 - I Am the United
States
(back)
I
AM THE UNITED STATES
I
was born on July 4, 1776, and the Declaration of Independence is my birth
certificate. The bloodlines of the world run in my veins, because I
offered freedom to the oppressed. I
am the United States.
I
am 250 million living souls, and the ghost of millions who have lived and
died for me.
I
am Nathan Hale and Paul Revere. I stood at Lexington and fired the shot
heard around the world. I am Washington, Jefferson, and Patrick Henry. I
am John Paul Jones, the Green Mountain boys, and Davy Crockett. I am Lee,
Grant, and Abe Lincoln.
I
am the Brooklyn Bridge, the wheat lands of Kansas, and the granite hills
of Vermont. I am the coal fields of the Virginias and Pennsylvania; the
fertile lands of the West; the Golden Gate and the Grand Canyon. I am
Independence Hall, the Monitor and the Merrimac.
I
am big. I sprawl from the Atlantic to the Pacific, three million square
miles throbbing with industry. I am more than 5,000,000 farms; I am
forest, field, mountain and desert. I am quiet villages...and cities that
never sleep. You can look at me and see Ben Franklin walking down the
streets of Philadelphia with his bread loaf under his arm. You can see
Betsy Ross with her needle. You can see the lights of Christmas, and hear
the strains of "Auld Lang Syne" as the calendar turns.
I
am Babe Ruth and the World Series. I am 169,000 schools and colleges and
250,000 churches where people worship God as they think best. I am a
ballot dropped in a box, the roar of a crowd in a stadium, and the voice
of a choir in a cathedral. I am an editorial in a newspaper, and a letter
to a Congressman.
I
am Eli Whitney and Stephen Foster. I am Tom Edison, Albert Einstein, and
Billy Graham. I am Horace Greeley, Will Rogers, and the Wright brothers. I
am George Washington Carver, Daniel Webster, and Jonas Salk.
I
am Longfellow, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Walt Whitman, Thomas Paine.
Yes, I am the Nation, and these are the things that I am. I was conceived
in freedom, and, God willing, in freedom will I spend the rest of my days.
May I possess always the integrity, the courage, and the strength to keep
myself unshackled, to remain a citadel of freedom and a beacon of hope to
the world. I am the United
States!

How long have Americans celebrated July 4th as a holiday?
Essentially
since 1777 but, officially, not until 1941. It was in 1777 that
Philadelphians first remembered the 4th of July. However, while the War of
Independence dragged on, July 4 celebrations were modest at best. When the
war ended in 1783, July 4 became a holiday in some places. In Boston, it
replaced the date of the Boston Massacre (March 5) as the major patriotic
holiday. Speeches, military events, parades, and fireworks marked the day.
In 1941, Congress declared July 4 a federal holiday. Received from:

Bonus - A Pot of Jam . .
.
(back)
A
Pot of Jam
(Author
Unknown)
When it seems that there are "too" many
things in your life and when 24 hours in a day never seems to be enough,
remember the "Pot of Jam" and coffee story:
There once was a professor of philosophy, who in front of his Class, took
a large empty pot of jam and without saying a word, began to fill it with
golf balls.
Then he asked his students if the jar was full. The Students replied: YES.
The professor then took a box full of marbles and poured the marbles into
the pot of jam. The marbles filled the gaps in between the Golf balls. The
Professor asked the students again if the jar was full. Again, they
replied: YES .
At that point, the professor took a bag of sand and poured it into the pot
of jam. Of course, the sand filled all the remaining gaps and the
professor asked again if the jar was full. The Students unanimously
answered: YES.
The professor then added two cups of coffee to the contents of the jar
thus filling the small gaps between the grains of sand. The students
started laughing. After they stopped, the professor said: "I want you
to realize that the pot of jam represents Life.
The golf balls are the very important things in Life such as family,
children, health, everything you are passionate about. Our lives would
still be full even if we'd lost everything else and these were the only
things that remained.
The marbles are the other things that count in our lives such as work,
house, car, etc ...
The sand represents everything else, all the small things in life.
If we had first poured sand into the pot of jam, there wouldn't have been
any room left for anything else such as the marbles or the golf balls.
It's the same thing in Life. If we put all our energy and all our time
into the small things, we will never have any time/space left for the
things that really matter.
Pay attention to the things that are really important to your happiness.
Play with your children, take time to go to the doctor, have dinner with
your spouse/partner, exercise or take time to enjoy your favorite
pass-times.
There will always be time to do the cleaning and fix the taps on the
kitchen sink...
Take care of the golf balls first, of the things that really matter.
Choose your priorities, the rest is just sand."
One of the students then raised a hand and asked what the coffee meant.
The professor smiled and said: "It's good that you ask. I only added
coffee to show that although your lives may seem full and busy, there is
always room for a cup of coffee with a friend. Good day to all..."
This
month's song is "Trust and Obey."
