June 6 - Wisdom of the Soul                           (back)

Wisdom of the Soul

No one can ruin your day without YOUR permission.
Most people will be about as happy, as they decide to be.
Others can stop you temporarily, but only you can do it permanently.
Whatever you are willing to put up with, is exactly what you will have.
Success stops when you do.

When your ship comes in ... make sure you are willing to unload it.
You will never "have it all together."
Life is a journey ... not a destination. Enjoy the trip!
The biggest lie on the planet: "When I get what I want I will be happy."
The best way to escape your problem is to solve it.

I've learned that ultimately 'takers' lose and 'givers' win.
Life's precious moments don't have value, unless they are shared.
If you don't start, it's certain you won't arrive.
We often fear the thing we want the most.
Everyone hears what you say. Friends listen to what you have to
say. Best friends listen to what you don't say!

Yesterday was the deadline for all complaints.
Look for opportunities ... not guarantees.
Life is what's coming.... not what was.
Success is getting up one more time.
Now is the most interesting time of all.

When things go wrong ... don't go with them.
Sometimes the majority only means that all the fools are on the same side.
God can mend all broken hearts. You just have to give Him all the pieces.
A person who asks a question might be a fool for five minutes, but
a person who doesn't ask, is a fool forever.
A best friend is like a four leaf clover ... hard to find, and
lucky to have.

A friend is someone who reaches for your hand but touches your heart.
A coincidence is when God performs a miracle, and decides to
remain anonymous.
I don't have to attend every argument I'm invited to.
Your worst days are never so bad that you are beyond the reach of
God's grace... and your best days are never so good that you are
beyond the need of God's grace.
Our eyes are placed in front because it is more important to look
ahead than to look back.

June 13 - I Choose . . .           (back)

I Choose

It’s quiet. It’s early. My coffee is hot. The sky is still black. The world is still asleep. The day is coming. In a few moments the day will arrive.

It will roar down the track with the rising of the sun. The stillness of the dawn will be exchanged for the noise of the day. The calm of the solitude will be replaced by the pounding pace of the human race.

The refuge of the early morning will be invaded by decisions to be made and deadlines to be met. For the next twelve hours I will be exposed to the day’s demands.

It is now that I must make a choice. Because of Calvary, I’m free to choose. And so I choose.

I CHOOSE LOVE…

No occasion justifies hatred; no injustice warrants bitterness. I  choose love. Today I will love God and what God loves.

I CHOOSE JOY…

I will invite my God to be the God of circumstance. I will refuse the temptation to be cynical…the tool of the lazy thinker. I will refuse to see people as anything less than human beings, created by God. I will refuse to see any problem as anything less than an opportunity to see God.

I CHOOSE PEACE…

I will live forgiven. I will forgive so that I may live.

I CHOOSE PATIENCE…

I will overlook the inconveniences of the world. Instead of cursing the one who takes my place, I’ll invite him to do so. Rather than complaining that the wait is too long, I will thank God for a moment to pray. Instead of clinching my fist at new assignments, I will face them with joy and courage.

I CHOOSE KINDNESS…

I will be kind to the poor, for they are alone. Kind to the rich, for they are afraid. And kind to the unkind, for such is how God has treated me.

I CHOOSE GOODNESS…

I will go without a dollar before I take a dishonest one. I will be overlooked before I will boast. I will confess before I will accuse. I choose goodness.

I CHOOSE FAITHFULNESS…

Today I will keep my promises. My debtors will not regret their trust. My associates will not question my word. My wife will not question my love. And my children will never fear that their father will not come home.

I CHOOSE GENTLENESS…

Nothing is won by force. I choose to be gentle. If I raise my voice, may it be only in praise. If I clench my fist, may it be only in prayer. If I make a demand, may it be only of myself.

I CHOOSE SELF-CONTROL…

I am a spiritual being. After this body is dead, my spirit will soar. I refuse to let what will rot rule the eternal. I choose self-control. I will be drunk only by joy. I will be impassioned only by my faith. I will be influenced only by God. I will be taught only by Christ.

LOVE, JOY, PEACE, PATIENCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, FAITHFULNESS, GENTLENESS AND SELF-CONTROL

To these I commit my day.

If I succeed, I will give thanks. If I fail, I will seek God’s face.

And then when this day is done, I will place my head on my pillow and rest.

June 20 - Why Jesus? . . .           (back)

WHY JESUS?

JESUS was born,
that I might be born twice.

HE became poor,
     that I might possess wealth.

HE became homeless,
     that I might have mansions.

HE was stripped,
that I always should have clothes.

HE was forsaken,
that I always should have friends.

HE was bound,
that I might have perfect liberty.

HE was sad,
that I might have full joy.

HE descended,
that I should be lifted up.

HE became a servant,
that I might be a son forever.

HE was hungry,
that I should always have food.

HE was made sin,
that I should share HIS righteousness.

HE died,
that I should never taste Eternal death.

HE came down,
     that I might go up.

All of this – that HE might display in me the riches of HIS grace
and be the companion of God in heaven

June 27 -  Whispers of a Child's Love . . .           (back)

A child's love is like a whisper,
given in little ways we do not hear
but if you listen closely
it will be very clear.

They often do not say it loud but
in how they come to you...
Mommy will you play with me?
will you tie my shoe?

...the many ways they tell

you changes as they grow
Mom I made the team today!
and Mom I've Got to go!

Mom I need some money
You see there's this girl at school...
Mom, I've got something to tell you...
I think she is the one.

Mom I've got some news for you...
It's gonna be a boy!
and Mom I'm kind of scared of this,
yet I'm filled with joy!

A child's love is like a whisper,
given in little ways we do not hear
but if you listen closely
it will be very clear.

They often do not say it loud
but in how they come to you...
Grandma will you play with me?
Grandma tie my shoe...

It is never ending
A blessing from above
Listen to the whispers
of a child's love.

June Bonus - Whisper Jesus . . .               (back)

Whisper Jesus

Today I got a burden,
And I felt that I should pray,
For God's spirit seemed to tell me,
That you were having a bad day.

I don't know just what that problem is,
But I sure do know the cure,
And if you'll only let Him,
God will keep you safe and secure.

In life there's always problems,
Cropping up to spoil our day,
But my friend, you know the answer,
All you have to do, is "PRAY".

If you still feel you're defeated,
And you want to run and hide,
Just reach out, and I'll be there,
Standing right there by your side.

So remember -- WHISPER JESUS,
For He's just a prayer away,
He's so close that you can touch Him,
All you have to do, is "pray".

(by D. C. Aloes)

This month's song is "Trust and Obey."
